What To Expect
Appointments are allocated 40 minutes. It is advisable to arrive 5 minutes early, to settle in and avoid feeling rushed.
A comprehensive case history will be taken and this may involve details of your past medical history, the current symptom picture, and for children details about your pregnancy and birth. A physical examination using some gentle movements will help to formulate a working diagnosis. Once this is discussed, treatment can begin.
A newborn or small child usually remains fully clothed on the treatment table, and a favourite toy, book or bottle is advisable. Depending on the symptom picture an adult may be asked to put a gown on, so parts of the body may be visible. Victoria has a pregnancy table available which allows women up to 36 weeks to lie comfortably face down for some of the treatment session. Please refer to the techniques section within the ‘About’ page for details on how Victoria treats.
The aim of treatment is to reduce the severity of symptoms completely or to a point where you can comfortably manage the condition yourself. Victoria typically see’s children an average of 4-5 visits and adults 7 visits (based on a review from 2014 – 2016 patient data). Sometimes exercises are prescribed or additional lifestyle advice given to help with your management.
